Delightful smoked salmon and cream cheese roll-ups seasoned with everything bagel spice, fresh scallions, zesty lemon, creamy avocado, crisp cucumber, and a hint of jalapeño for a flavorful appetizer or snack.

  • Total Time: 20 minutes
  • Yield: 12 servings

Ingredients

Seasoning & Base

  • 2 Tbsp everything bagel seasoning blend
  • 1 lb smoked salmon, thinly sliced

Cream Cheese Filling

  • ¾ cup whipped cream cheese or room temperature regular cream cheese
  • 2 scallions, thinly sliced (can substitute with chives)
  • 2 tsp fresh lemon zest (from 1 medium lemon)

Fillings & Garnish

  • 1 medium ripe avocado, peeled and cut into ¼-inch thick strips
  • 1 small cucumber, cut into ¼-inch thick matchsticks
  • 1 medium jalapeño pepper, very thinly sliced
  • Low-sodium soy sauce, optional, for serving

Instructions

  1. Prepare the salmon: Lay out a large sheet of plastic wrap about 20 inches long and sprinkle it evenly with 2 tablespoons of everything bagel seasoning blend. Then, layer the 1 pound of thinly sliced smoked salmon on top by overlapping pieces to form a rectangle roughly 18 by 6 inches.
  2. Make the cream cheese filling: In a small bowl, combine ¾ cup whipped cream cheese with 2 thinly sliced scallions and 2 teaspoons of fresh lemon zest. Stir the mixture until it is well blended and smooth.
  3. Assemble the roll-ups: Using a spatula or spoon, spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over the entire surface of the salmon rectangle. About 2 inches from the bottom edge, lay the avocado and cucumber strips lengthwise across the salmon.
  4. Roll into a log: Carefully use the plastic wrap to lift and roll the salmon slices over the filling, creating a tight log shape. Optionally, sprinkle additional everything bagel seasoning on top for extra flavor.
  5. Cut and serve: With a sharp knife, slice the log into bite-sized pieces approximately ¾-inch thick. Arrange the pieces standing up on a plate and top each with a thin slice of jalapeño. Serve with low-sodium soy sauce on the side for dipping if desired.

Notes

  • Use whipped cream cheese for easier spreading, or soften regular cream cheese before mixing.
  • Substitute scallions with chives for a milder onion flavor.
  • Adjust jalapeño slices according to heat preference; remove seeds for less spice.
  • Serve immediately or chill for up to 1 hour before serving to keep freshness.
  • For a gluten-free option, ensure soy sauce is gluten-free or use tamari.
