This Crock Pot Angel Chicken recipe features tender boneless chicken breasts cooked slowly in a creamy sauce made with cream cheese, butter, cream of chicken soup, garlic, chicken broth, and Italian dressing mix. Served over angel hair pasta, it’s an easy and comforting meal perfect for any day.
4 ounces cream cheese, softened to room temperature
3 Tablespoons unsalted butter, softened to room temperature
10.5 ounce can cream of chicken soup
3 cloves garlic, minced
3/4 cup chicken broth
1 (0.7 ounce) packet Good Seasons Dry Italian Salad Dressing Mix
Pasta and Garnish
16 ounce box angel hair pasta
Chopped fresh parsley, for serving (optional)
Cracked pepper, for serving (optional)
Grated Parmesan cheese, for serving (optional)
Instructions
Heat and season chicken: Heat a cast iron skillet over medium-high heat. Add 1-2 tablespoons vegetable oil and swirl to coat. Sprinkle salt and pepper over both sides of the chicken breasts.
Sear chicken: Once the pan is hot, add the chicken breasts. Sear each side for 2-3 minutes until golden brown. Remove from heat.
Make sauce mixture: In a medium bowl, whisk together the softened cream cheese and butter until smooth. Add cream of chicken soup, minced garlic, chicken broth, and Italian dressing mix. Whisk to combine fully.
Prepare slow cooker: Spray the inside of a crock pot with non-stick cooking spray. Place the seared chicken breasts in the bottom of the crock pot.
Cook chicken: Pour the sauce mixture over the chicken breasts. Cover and cook on low for 4 hours or until chicken reaches 165°F internally and is tender. Longer cooking will make chicken fall apart but more tender.
Cook pasta: Shortly before serving, cook angel hair pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain well.
Serve: Serve the chicken whole or shredded. Toss pasta with sauce or spoon chicken and sauce on pasta. Optionally, garnish with chopped parsley, cracked pepper, and grated Parmesan cheese.
Notes
Use low or no sodium cream of chicken soup and chicken broth if you prefer a lower salt version.
Always check the internal temperature of chicken with a meat thermometer to ensure it reaches 165°F for safety.
Cooking longer in the crock pot will make the chicken more tender but it may fall apart, which is perfect for shredding.
If you don’t have a cast iron skillet, any heavy-bottomed pan will work for searing.
For a richer flavor, feel free to sprinkle additional Parmesan cheese when serving.
