Total Time:1 hour 25 minutes
Yield:4 servings
Ingredients
Chocolate Mousse:
1 cup heavy whipping cream
½ cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
2 tbsp unsalted butter
2 tbsp powdered sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
Whipped Cream Layer:
1 cup heavy whipping cream
2 tbsp powdered sugar
½ tsp vanilla extract
Crunchy Layer:
½ cup chocolate cookie crumbs (Oreo or graham crackers)
1 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
Garnish (Optional):
Chocolate shavings
Cocoa powder
Fresh berries
Whipped cream
Instructions
Prepare the Chocolate Mousse: In a small saucepan, melt the chocolate chips and unsalted butter over low heat, stirring constantly until smooth. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly. In a mixing bowl, whip the heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract using a hand mixer or whisk until soft peaks form. Gently fold the melted chocolate mixture into the whipped cream until fully combined and creamy. Cover and refrigerate for 30 minutes to set.
Make the Whipped Cream Layer: In a separate chilled bowl, beat the heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until soft peaks form. Set aside at room temperature or refrigerate.
Prepare the Crunchy Layer: Combine the chocolate cookie crumbs with the melted butter in a small bowl. Stir until the crumbs are evenly coated and hold together slightly. Set aside.
Assemble the Parfait: Using serving glasses or jars, start with a layer of chocolate mousse at the bottom. Next, add a layer of the whipped cream, then sprinkle a layer of the cookie crumb mixture on top. Repeat these layers until the glass is filled, finishing with a final layer of whipped cream on top.
Garnish & Serve: Decorate the top of each parfait with optional chocolate shavings, a dusting of cocoa powder, fresh berries, or additional whipped cream. Serve immediately for a soft texture or chill in the refrigerator for 1 hour to allow the parfait to firm up before serving.
Notes
Make sure to cool the melted chocolate mixture slightly before folding it into the whipped cream to prevent deflating the mousse.
Use chilled bowls and beaters for whipping cream to achieve the best volume and texture.
The cookie crumbs can be customized with your favorite cookies for different flavors.
For a dairy-free or vegan version, substitute heavy cream with coconut cream and use dairy-free chocolate chips and butter alternatives.
Parfaits can be prepared a few hours ahead and stored covered in the fridge to save time.
